You do. Owners control their calendar completely: open the dates that suit you, block the dates you need your car, and approve every booking request yourself.
This is the question we take most seriously. Standard personal policies don't cover paid rentals, which is why we're building per-trip cover with South African underwriters into the platform itself — plus verification, tracking and deposits. Full details will be published before bookings open, and we won't launch without cover in place.
Every renter passes ID, licence and selfie verification plus fraud screening before they can book. Every vehicle carries GPS tracking. Deposits apply, both sides rate each other, and our pilot bookings are each manually approved by our team.
Joining the waitlist and listing a vehicle are free. When you earn, LekkaShare keeps a commission on completed bookings — founding owners lock in a reduced rate. Renters pay the rental rate plus a small service fee, still targeting well below traditional car hire.
No — e-hailing and delivery use isn't permitted on LekkaShare. It's a different risk and insurance class, and our priority is protecting owners' vehicles.
